Pirates 4 8 1
METS 5 9 1
Johan Santana might have pitched a gem Tuesday night, but it was not enough to put the Pirates away for good. He struck out seven in 5.2 innings, but it was the unlikely duo of Duaner Sanchez and Billy Wagner who gave up the two runs to tie the game at four. This is a bit of a disappointment but they are only human, right?
But David Wright, the Mets pride and joy, hit a long single towards right field and former Met Xavier Nady could not reach it in time, scoring Endy Chavez. How clutch is Mr. Wright? The bases were loaded in 11th inning, the perfect time to get the clutch hit.
Oh, and for those Ryan Church fans, be glad, as he hit his third home run of the season. There is something special about right field....
