If Oliver Perez were taking a pitching exam, he would have passed with flying colors. Through five innings against the Washington Nationals, he struck out five and gave up a run and two hits. Good timing on this performance, just two weeks before the season starts, he decided to step his game up.
The Mets were up on the Nats 1-0 until they broke opened up the game in the fifth inning where David Wright brought two home on a single. The mets scored two more in the seventh to get the job done.
