Yet another loss to the dreaded Cardinals. They have dominated the Mets all spring, outscoring them 42-16. They clobbered Johan Santana for four runs in five innings. On the bright side, he did strike out five batters. Even Cards’ starter Adam Wainwright got into the swing of things as well getting a hit off him, helping out his own cause. Definitely not something you want to see two weeks before the season starts.
The bullpen wasn’t much help as Ricardo Rincon gave up four runs, four hits and only recorded one out.
Offensive Notes: Carlos Delgado hit one out of the park. Finally a plus on Delgado’s end, who is hitting .143 in the spring. It was his first of the spring. One can guess his hip is still bothering him.
